Amazon gift cards are region-locked to a specific storefront — a US card redeems on amazon.com, a UK card on amazon.co.uk, and so on. Redeeming the wrong region's card on the wrong storefront simply won't work. Check the product page for the exact region before buying, and make sure it matches the Amazon account (and storefront) you actually shop on.
